1Name of Regulations

 These Regulations are the Quarantine Amendment Regulations 2002 (No. 1).

2Commencement

 These Regulations commence on gazettal.

3Amendment of Quarantine Regulations 2000

Schedule 1 amends the Quarantine Regulations 2000.

[1]Regulation 59, definition of prescribed penalty

substitute

prescribed penalty means:

  • (a)

    in relation to an infringement notice offence involving goods that:

    • (i)

      are prohibited for importation into Australia or the Cocos Islands by a Proclamation under section 13 of the Act; and

    • (ii)

      are subject to forfeiture under section 68 of the Act — 2 penalty units; or

  • (b)

    in any other case — 1 penalty unit.
