An Act to authorize the execution 0f certain Public Works of a permanent character by means of Loans secured on the Consolidated Revenue F u n d of the Colony. [18th March, 1857.]

Avhereas by reason of such works being of a p e r m a n e n t character it is	WH E R E A S for thwi th to t h e execut ion of cer ta in Pub l i c W o r k s A n d
deemed exped ien t to provide t h e necessary funds for execu t ing the same by m e a n s of Loans secured upon the Consolidated R e v e n u e F u n d of t he Colony Be i t therefore enacted by the Queen 's Most Exce l len t Majesty by and wi th t h e advice and consent of t h e Legis­ la t ive Counci l and the Legis la t ive Assembly of N e w South W a l e s in
Pa r l i amen t assembled and by t h e au thor i ty of t h e same as follows :—
1. I t shall be lawful for t he Governor with t he advice of t h e Executive Counci l from t i m e to t ime to raise by t h e sale of Deben tu res (or otherwise) secured upon the Consolidated Revenue F u n d of t h e Colony and bear ing interest at a r a t e not exceeding five pounds per c e n t u m per a n n u m any s u m or sums of money no t exceeding in t h e
whole t he s u m of one h u n d r e d a n d seven thousand seven h u n d r e d and
seventeen pounds e igh teen shi l l ings a n d eleven-pence s ter l ing as may
be requi red for t h e several purposes hereinafter more par t i cu la r ly

2. Al l sums borrowed u n d e r th i s A c t shal l be pa id to	t h e

Treasurer of t he said Colony to be applied to t h e several purposes for which the same shall have been raised and t h e accounts of t h e sums expended on the said I m p r o v e m e n t s and P u b l i c W o r k s a n d of t h e sums borrowed for t he purposes thereof shall annua l ly be laid before the Legis la t ive Counci l and the Legis la t ive Assembly of t h e Colony and shall be examinable in t h e same m a n n e r as if t h e sums so expended and t h e sums so ra ised h a d formed p a r t of t h e Cur ren t A n n u a l E x p e n d i t u r e a n d R e v e n u e of t h e Colony Provided t h a t in the event of t h e erect ion of More ton Bay in to a separate Colony the sums of money hereinbefore authorized t o be ra ised for Pub l ic W o r k s

in t h a t Dis t r ic t shal l be chargeable to such n e w Colony.
