Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :.- 1. This Act shall be read as one with" The Public Short title Works Land Resumption Act of 1906,"* herein referred to a~ ~ Btru tioD as the Principal Act, and may be cited together with that ~ f Act. c Act as " The Public Works Land Resumption Acts, 1906 to 1916,"t or separately as "The Public Works Land Resumption Act Amendment Act of 1916." 2. After section thirteen of the Principal Act, the following section is inserted : - [1BA.] (1.) Where any owner of land in fee-simple Assessment offers to make an agreement with the Crown as construct- ~ a~ ~ IC: ~ ~ ing authority for the acquirement by the Crown of such where offer land, with or without all or'any improvements thereon, atc:'~ ~o a price mentioned in such offer or at a price to be assessed by the Land Court, the Secretary for Public I ... ands may refer the matter of the value of such land and improve- ments (if any) to the Land Court for a report thereon. (2.) Thereupon a member of the Land Court, upon giving to the owner such notice as may be prescribed, may inspect the land and improvements (if any), and shall report to the Secretary for Public Lands upon the value thereof. . (3,) Such member of the Land Court, with such assistants as he thinks fit, may at any time enter upon the land and remain thereon for such time as may be necessary to enable him to obtain sufficient information, and if need be to cause surveys to be made, for the preparation of his report. Counoil, may enter into an agreement with the owner to purohase the land with improvements (if any) at a prioe not exoeeding the value thereof stated in the said report, and may, on behalf of His Majesty, exeoute all instru- ments and do and perform all acts neoessary for the oompletion of suoh purchase. (6.) Nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the Secretary for Public Lands from purchasing land and improvements (if any) without any such report as aforesaid in any case where the value of the land and improvements (if any) does not exoeed two thousand pounds.
