Committee in the m anner hereinafter provided. Be it therefore enacted by the Queen’s ]\lost Excellent IMajesty, hy and -with the advice and consent of the Lc'^islativc Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliam ent asscml)led, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—^

1. This Act may he cited as the “ Public W orks (Committees’ siiort title,

llcm uneration) Act of 1889.”

2. The Members of every Parliam entary Standini>; Committee f c -s to k-]>aid to

on Public M'orks, including' the Standini; Committee first appointed

under the “ Public "W^orks A ct of 1888,” shall each receive, hy way of in̂ ’̂ comm'iUM ou"'

rem uneration for his services as a Member of such Committee, a fee

for each attendance at a summoned meeting of such Committee at Avhich a quorum shall have been present, according to the following scale :—■

(i)   The Chairman, or Member presiding at a,ny meeting in his absence : Pour guineas for each sitting.

(ii) Every other Membtu’ ; Three guineas for each sitting.

Provided th a t nothing in this Act shall he taken to constitute the office of any Member of the said Committee an office of profit, so as to render such Llemhcr incapable of sitting or voting as a Member of tlic Legislature, or to make void the election of such Member.

13. The fees made payable under this A ct shall be charged on F cos to ho a cimrgo

the Consolidated llevcnue Eund, and the certiffi;ate of the Chairman or Vice-Chairman of the said Committee shall he a sufficient w arrant and authority, and discharge to the Colonial Treasurer for the paym ent of such fees from such Eund.

4. In addition to the sum payable to every Member of such As to trnvciung

Committee as a sitting fee, ho shall he paid a further sum of thirty shillings per diem on account of I'xpt'nses incurred by him in, and in the course of, travelling, Ai hetln'r by land or water, whenever such expenses and charges have been incurred bond fide in the performance of his duties as a Member of such Committee, whilst outside the boundaries of the county of Cumberland. And such exjienses and charges shall be chargeable in the same manni'r, and be paid by the same person, and on the; like certificate, and in other respects in like m anner as in the case of fees for sittings.

5. In all cases in Avhich a Sectional Committee of the said Meoiings of
