Works Commit tee and sectional commit tees
thereof, and the fees, expenses , and charges
payable to its m e m b e r s ; to suspend the powers and dut ies of any such commit tee for a specified period ; to amend the Publ ic W o r k s Act, 1900; and for purposes con sequent on or incidental to the carrying out

| 1. This Act may be cited as the " Public Works Committee |
Act, 1901."
2. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works
shall not, nor shall any sectional committee thereof, hold any meeting
while the Legislative Assembly is actually sitting.
3. The powers and duties conferred and imposed on any such committee by the Public Works Act, 1900, are hereby suspended from the commencement of this Act until the thirtieth day of June , one thousand nine hundred and five.
4. Notwithstanding the provisions of Division 4 of Part I I of the Public Works Act, 1900, the total amount chargeable on or payable out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund under those provisions to members of the said committee, for fees, travelling expenses, charges, or otherwise, shall not, during the twelve months beginning on the first day of July in any year exceed two thousand pounds.
| The Treasurer shall adjust the payments to such committee so as to carry out the provisions of this section. | Act |
Where in any such twelve months the said amount of two thousand pounds would, but for the passing of this Act, bo exceeded, a proportionate abatement shall be made; in the fees, expenses, and charges payable: to members of such committee respectively, so as to reduce the amount so payable to the above-mentioned sum of two thousand pounds.
