T>E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by -D and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the “Public Works and Other

Acts (Interest Rates) Amendment Act, 1976”.

Commence­ 2. This Act shall be deemed to have commenced on 18th

ment December, 1975.

Amendment 3. The Public Works (Amendment) Act, 1975, is

Schedule (a) by inserting after section 126a (4) in the matter

' subsection:—

(4a) Subject to subsection (9), where a taking

or acquisition referred to in subsection (1) took effect on or after the commencement of the Public Works (Amendment) Act, 1975, interest is payable under that subsection—

(a)	in respect of the period expiring twelve months after the taking or acquisition— at the rate of four per centum per annum; and
(b)	in respect of any period later than twelve months after the taking or acquisition— at the rate specified in respect of that period in a notification under subsection

(5).

After section 536c (2) (e), insert:—

(e l ) by omitting section 126 (3 );

Omit “subsection (2) of section 126”, insert instead

“section 126a ( 1 ) ” .

(3 ) Section 536c (2) (f) ( i )—

Omit “further” wherever occurring.

(4 ) Section 536c (2) (f) (ii)—

Omit the subparagraph.

4. Each Act specified in Column 1 of Schedule 1 is Amendment

amended in the manner specified opposite that Act in Column ^

2 of that Schedule.
