T 3E it enacted by tlie Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with j 3 the advice and consent o£ the Legislative Council and Legisla­ tive Assembly of New South Monies in Earliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—

Sliort title.	1. This Act may be cited as the “ Public "VYorlvs Acts Eurthcr Amendment Act of 1897.”
Committee to	2. Section three of Part I of the Public "Works Act of 1888 is hereby amended so that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public IVorks shall consist of seven persons instead of thirteen, three of such persons to be appointed, in manner provided by the said third section of the said Act, and by section trvo of the Public M^orks Act Amendment Act of 1889 from Members of the Legislative Council, and four, in like manner, from Members of the Legislative Assembly.

Qiioi-um tobe three.	3. Subscction (n) of scctiou five of tlic Public Works Act of 1888, and section four of the Public Works Act Amendment Act of 1889 are hereby amended, so that the quorum of the Committee shall in all cases be three.
Pops.	4 . T llC Public Woi’ks (Committces’ Eemnneration) Act of 1889 is hereby amended so that the Chairman of the Committee shall not receive more than three guineas, and so that each other Member of the Committee shall not receive more than two guineas for each day’s attendance at a summoned meeting of a Committee at which a quorum shall be present, or at any inspection under section five of the said Act.
