improving of Roads in South Australia," certain powers, functions, immunities, duties, obligations, and rights, were vested in a Hoard of Commissioners, stylcd the Central Board of Main Roads, for purposes therein set forth: And whereas, by an Act of the Governor and Legislative Council, No. 20 of 1854, intituled " A n Act to authorise 20 ,f 1854.

the raising a sum of One Hundred Thousand Pounds for the deepening and improvement of the Harbor of Port Adelaide, and for other purposes therein named," certain powers, functions, immunitiea, duties, obligations, and rights, were vested in a Trust thereby appointed: And whereas, by an Act of the Governor and Legis- lative Council, No. 27 of 1855-6, intituled " An Act to authorize 27 of 1855-6.

the ,4ppointnient of South Australian Railway Commissioners, and to vest in them the Construction of the Adelaide City and Port Rail- way, and of the Adelaide and Gawler Town Bailway, and to authorize the raising of a further sum of Thirty-Six Thousand Pounds, for the completion of the Adelaide City and Port Railway," certain powers, functions, immunities, duties, obligations, and rights were vested for the purposes therein named in the South Australian Ptailway Commissioners: And whereas it would conduce to the more economical and efficicnt management of the various above-mentioned undertakings, if the said trust and Commissioners were made responsible to the Governor-Be it therefore Enacted by the Gover- nor-in-Chief of the Province of South Auxtralia, with the advice

The said Commissioners and Trust, by the said Acts appointed the supervision, control, and direction of the Commissioner of Public Works for the time being, and shall at all times furnish such reports, accounts, vouchers, and documents relating to any matter entrusted to, or performed by, such Commissioners or Trust, or any of them, as the said Commissioner of Public Works shall, by any writing under his hand addressed to the said Cornmissioners or Trust, or any or either of them, or to their or any or either of their Secretaries, from time to time require, and shall fulfil and carry out any directions which may, from time to time, be given in manner aforesaid by the said Commissioner of Public Works touching any matters entrusted to or performed or authorized to be performed by the said Commissioners or Trust.
