to carry out the work authorised and reiiuired by the Laiul and Income Tax Assessment Act of 1895 and the Acts amending the same: And wh.ereas a staff of otFicers will lie required to be permanently maintained to perform the duties of the aforesaid persons: And wliereas it is desirable that preference should be given in forming the said staff to persons who have gained ex])erienee of the duties to be iierformed: And whereas the aforesaid jiersons are not eligible to be graded as per­ manent officers: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majsoty, by and with the advicn and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. This Act shall be construed with the Public Service Act of Shoi-t title.
