REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1972*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act1922-1972 hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations 

Officers to have powers ofPermanent Head under these Regulations.

1. Regulation 4bof the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(2.) The Commissioner of Trade Practices has all the powers of, or exercisable by, a Permanent Head under these Regulations so far as those powers relate to the branch of the Commonwealth Service comprising the staff referred to in section 31 of the Restrictive Trade Practices Act1971 as if that branch were a separate Department.”; and

(b)by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—

“(5.) The Chairman of the Australian Commission on Advanced Education has all the powers of or exercisable by, a Permanent Head under these Regulations so far as those powers relate to the branch of the Commonwealth Service comprising the staff of the Australian Commission on Advanced Education as if that branch, were a separate Department.”.

Delegation by Permanent Head.

2. Regulation 4C of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(3.) For the purposes of this regulation, the Chairman of the Board, the Auditor-General, the Commissioner of Taxation, the Chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Control Board, the Chairman of the Australian Universities Commission, the National Librarian, the Commissioner of Trade Practices, the First Parliamentary Counsel and the Chairman of the Australian Commission on Advanced Education shall each be deemed to be a Permanent Head.”.

Prescribed bodies or organizations for purposes of section 72a of the Act.

3. Regulation 61a of the Public Service Regulations is amended by adding at theend of sub-regulation (1.) the words—

“The University of the South Pacific”.

Allowances to Veterinary Officers and Meat Inspectors.

4. Regulation 79b of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (1.) the figures “45.00” and “40.00” and inserting in their stead the figures “52.00 and “45.00”, respectively.

Miscellaneous allowances.

5. Regulation 89a of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the figures “$0.20” and inserting in their stead the figures “$0.25”.
