Amendments of the Public Service Regulations
(a) by omitting from paragraph (bc) of sub-regulation (1) the word “or”;
(b) by adding at the end of sub-regulation (1) the following paragraphs:—
“(d) the officer has in not less than four approved subjects, each of which is a subject in respect of which the Board of Secondary School Studies of Queensland grants Senior Certificates or a subject in respect of which examinations at Senior Examination level were

conducted by the Public Examination Board of the University of Queensland in a year before the year 1973, attained—
(i) in the case of a subject in which the officer has completed four semester units—an average semester grade of not less than Grade 4;
(ii) in the case of a subject in which an officer undertook an examination in 1973 or a subsequent year—a grade of not less than Grade 4;
(iii) in the case of a subject in respect of which the officer undertook an examination in a year before the year 1967—Grade C or a higher grade; or
(iv) in the case of a subject in respect of which the officer undertook an examination in any year from and including the year 1967 to and including the year 1972—Grade 4 or a higher grade; or
“(e) that the officer is qualified for admission to a course of studies or instruction for a degree at an Australian college of advanced education.”; and
(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (1aa) the words “paragraph (
c ) of the last preceding sub-regulation” and substituting the words “ paragraphs (c ) and (e ) of sub-regulation (1) ”.

“(1b) The Board may, by determination of general application published in the
“(1C) A pass in an examination in a subject held as part of a prescribed examination, or of an examination referred to in paragraph (ba) or (bc) of sub-regulation (1), or the attainment in a subject referred to in paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (1) of a grade specified in that paragraph in relation to that subject, does not count as a pass in an examination in an approved subject for the purpose of paragraph (b), (ba) or (bc), or as the attainment of the specified grade in an approved subject for the purpose of paragraph (d), as the case may be, of that sub-regulation if, in accordance with the conditions determined under sub-regulation (1B), the subject is not to count as an approved subject for the purpose of that paragraph.”.
(2) A determination under sub-regulation (1B) of regulation 112 of the Public Service Regulations as in force immediately before the commencement of these Regulations continues in force as if made under sub-regulation (1B) of regulation 112 of the Public Service Regulations as amended by these Regulations.
