REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1973.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1973, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations 

Repeal of regulation 4a.

1. Regulation 4a of the Public Service Regulations is repealed.

Officers to have powers of Permanent Head under these Regulations.

2. Regulation 4b of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following sub-regulation:—

“ (1) The Chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Control Board, the Chief Australian Electoral Officer, the Chairman of the Hospitals and Health Services Commission, the Chairman of the Industries

Assistance Commission, the Chairman of. the Schools Commission, the Chairman of the Social Welfare Commission and the Director-General of the National Library have the powers of, or exercisable by, a Permanent Head under these Regulations in respect of the branches of the Service respectively under their direct control.”; and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (5) the word “ Australian ” (wherever occurring).

Repeal of regulation 4c.

3. Regulation 4C of the Public Service Regulations is repealed.

Payment in lieu of recreation leave for certain officers ceasing to be officers, otherwise than by death.

4. Regulation 46dof the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2) the word and figures “ section 68 ” and substituting the word and figures “ section 68b ”.

Recording and payment of overtime.

5. Regulation 67 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (14) the figures “ $3.54 ” and substituting the figures “ $4.56 ”.

Sunday duty.

6.Regulation 70 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (6a) the figures “ $3.54 ” and substituting the figures “ $4.56 ”.

Camping and lodging allowance.

7. Regulation 89 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-paragraph 2 (a) (i) the figures “ $3.25 ” and substituting the figures “ $4.05 ”;

(b) by omitting from sub-paragraph 2(a) (ii) the figures “ $1.80 ” and substituting the figures “ $2.25 ”; and

(c) by omitting from paragraph (2) (b) the figures “ $1.75 ” and substituting the figures “$2.30”.

Appointment of officers to deal with minor offences.

8. Regulation 142 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1)—

(a) the words “ , or, in the Postmaster-General’s Department, any Postal Inspector, ”; and

(b) by omitting the words “ , or, in the case of a Postal Inspector, committed by any officer in the Postal Inspector’s district ”.

Conditions of transfer or promotion from Fourth Division to Third Division.

9. Statutory Rules 1973, No. 280 is amended by omitting from sub-regulation 2(1) the word and figure “ sub-regulation (1) ” and substituting the word and, figures “ sub-regulation (1a) ”.
