REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1975.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1975, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations 

Meal allowance.

1. Regulation 68 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the figures “ $2.00 ” and substituting the figures “ $2.20 ”.

Basis of calculation of allowance.

2. Regulation 75 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by inserting in sub-regulation (2) after the word “ Part ” the words “, other than an allowance payable under regulation 75a,”.

Rates of travelling allowance.

3. Regulation 75a of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following sub-regulations:—

“ (1) Where an officer is absent overnight from his headquarters, there is payable to the officer in respect of the period of a meal specified in column 1 of the following table that is included in the period of the officer’s absence—

(a) in the case of an officer whose salary is equal to or greater than the salary of an officer occupying an office classified as Level 1 in the Second Division—whichever of the amounts specified in column 2 or 3 of the table is applicable; or

(b) in the case of an officer whose salary is less than the salary of an officer occupying an office classified as Level 1 in the Second Division—whichever of the amounts specified in column 4 or 5 of the table is applicable:—

“ (1aa) Where an officer is absent overnight from his headquarters, there is payable to him in respect of his accommodation expenses—

(a) in the case of an officer whose salary is equal to or greater than the salary of an officer occupying an office classified as Level 1 in the Second Division—whichever of the amounts specified in column 1 or 2 of the following table is applicable; or

(b) in the case of an officer whose salary is less than the salary of an officer occupying an office classified as Level 1 in the Second Division—whichever of the amounts specified in column 3 or 4 of the following table is applicable:—

“ (1ab) Where an officer is absent overnight from his headquarters, there is payable to him in respect of his incidental expenses on each day or part of a day of the period of his continuous absence—

(a) in the case of an officer whose salary is equal to or greater than the salary of an officer occupying an office classified as Level 1 in the Second Division—whichever of the amounts specified in column 1 or 2 of the following table is appplicable; or

 

(b) in the case of an officer whose salary is less than the salary of an officer classified as Level 1 in the Second Division— whichever of the amounts specified in column 3 or 4 of the following table is applicable:—

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (1a) the words “ the last preceding sub-regulation ” and substituting the words “ sub-regulations (1), (1aa)and(1ab) ”;

(c) by omitting sub-regulation (2); and

(d) by adding at the end thereof the following sub-regulation:—

“ (5) For the purposes of sub-regulation (1), the Board may specify, in relation to any place, the time of commencement, and duration, of the period of a meal specified in column 1 of the table in that sub-regulation.”.

Allowance to veterinary officers and meat inspectors.

4. Regulation 79b of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting the table and substituting the following table:—
