Public Service Regulations2 (Amendment)

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922,hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Commencement

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 21 July 1985.

Medical examination after 13 weeks sick leave

2. Regulation 56 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting “Regional Director” and substituting “Board”.

Certificate of fitness

3. Regulation 57 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting “Regional Director” (wherever occurring) and substituting “Board”.

Interpretation of Part V

4. Regulation 104 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting “50c of the Act” from the definition of “Promotion Appeal Committee” in sub-regulation (1) and substituting “9 of the Merit Protection (Australian Government Employees) Act 1984.

Repeal

5. Regulations 109d, 109e and 109F of the Public Service Regulations are repealed.

Delegation

6. Regulation 160 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (1) and substituting the following sub-regulation:

“(1) The Director may, either generally or as otherwise provided by the instrument of delegation, by writing signed by the Director, delegate to—

(a) an officer or employee; or

(b) a person appointed to, or to act in, an office under a law of the Commonwealth, by the Governor-General or a Minister,

any of the Director’s powers under this Part other than this power of delegation.”.
