REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1953.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1953, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

I, the Governor-General in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby approve the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations. 

Meal allowances.

1. Regulation 68 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting paragraph (d) of sub-regulation (4.) and inserting in its Stead the following paragraph:—

“(d) the period between the hours of 12 midnight and 1 a.m.”.

An allowance for watching duty on lighthouse vessels in port.

2. Regulation 95b of the Public Service Regulations is repealed.

Reimbursement of fares— remote districts.

3. Regulation 98 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (1.) the words “(other than an officer under eighteen years of age residing with his parents or guardian)”.

4. Regulation 106aa of the Public Service Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—

Allowances payable to certain officers and employees.

“106aa. Where—

(a) an officer occupies an office specified in the first column of the Second Schedule to those Regulations; or

(b) an employee is employed in an office specified in the first column of the Second Schedule to those Regulations,

and the officer or employee has the qualifications, or complies with the conditions relating to an allowance, specified in the second column of that Schedule opposite to the designation of the office, he shall be paid an allowance at the rate specified in that column in respect of those qualifications or conditions.”.

Promotions on the basis of senior efficient officer available.

5. Regulation 109g of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the following designations:—

Assistant (Female), Grade 1.

Assistant (Female), Grade 2.

Clerical Assistant (Female), Grade 1.

Clerical Assistant (Female), Grade 2.

Examinations accepted in case of returned soldiers.

8.—(1.) Regulation 159 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by inserting in sub-regulation (1.), after the words—

“Examinations held by the Education Department, Scotland, namely:—

Intermediate and Leaving Certificates.”—

the words—

“Examinations conducted by the Educational Institute of Scotland.”.

(2.) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the first day of April, 1954.
