Amendments of the Public Service Regulations.
(
a ) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the words “a fee” and inserting in their stead the words “the fee payable”; and (b ) by omitting sub-regulation (4.).
“(3a.) The rate of travelling allowance payable to an officer who attends a course of training that the Board has determined to be a course of training to which this sub-regulation applies is Two pounds twelve shillings per day.”.

(
a ) by omitting sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulations:—“(1.) A notification of the making of a provisional promotion under section 50 of the Act shall be published in the
Gazette. “(1a.) An appeal against a provisional promotion shall be made by letter or telegram delivered to the office of the appropriate officer within the time that commences on the date on which the notification of the provisional promotion is published in the
Gazette and ends at the close of business of the office of the appropriate officer on the twenty-first day after that date.“(1b.) For the purposes of the last preceding sub-regulation, the appropriate officer is—
(
a ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in a State—the Public Service Inspector in that State;(
b ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in the Australian Capital Territory, other than an office in the Postmaster-General’s Department or the Department of Civil Aviation—the Chairman, Promotions Appeal Committee, Australian Capital Territory;(
c ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in the Postmaster-General’s Department, or the Department of Civil Aviation, in the Australian Capital Territory—the Public Service Inspector, Sydney;(
d ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in the Northern Territory—the Chairman, Promotions Appeal Committee, Darwin;(
e ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in the Territory of Papua or the Territory of New Guinea—the Public Service Inspector, Brisbane;(
f ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in Norfolk Island—the Public Service Inspector, Sydney; or(
g ) if the provisional promotion is made to an office in any other place outside Australia—the Chairman, Promotions Appeal Committee, Australian Capital Territory.”;(
b ) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the word “from” and inserting in its stead the word “after”; and(
c ) by omitting from sub-regulation (3.) the word “Darwin,” (wherever occurring).
(2.) Regulation 9 of Statutory Rules 1961, No. 68 is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the figures “£400” and inserting in their stead the figures “£499”.
