REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations 

Salary for purposes of furlough.

1. Regulation 62 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting paragraphs (d) and (i) of sub-regulation (1);

(b) by adding at the end of paragraph (1) of sub-regulation (1) the word “ and ”; and

(c) by omitting paragraph (m) of sub-regulation (1).

Calculation of pay for duty on a holiday.

2. Regulation 63 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-regulation (3) all words from and including the word “ holiday ” to and including the word “ charge,” and substituting the words “ holiday, the duties of an officer having a higher classification than his own,”; and

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (4) and substituting the following sub-regulation:—

“ (4) Notwithstanding anything contained in this regulation, the hourly rate of salary for the purposes of this regulation shall not exceed the rate, ascertained in accordance with sub-regulation (2), for an officer who is in receipt of salary at the rate specified in Column 3 of Part II of Schedule 1 to the Public Service (Salaries) Regulations in relation to a Class 4 office.”.

Miscellaneous allowances.

3. Regulation 89A of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting sub-regulation (2); and

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (3) the words “ telephonists,” and “ or phonogram operators ”.

Allowance to persons sleeping on office premises.

4. Regulation 95 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulations (2) and (3).

Allowances in lieu of quarters to Postmasters.

5. Regulation 97a of the Public Service Regulations is repealed.

Promotions on the basis of senior efficient officer available.

6. Regulation 109g of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1) the words and figure “ Mail Officer ”, “ Postal Officer, Grade 1 ” and “ Postman ”.

Seniority.

7. Regulation 110 of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by adding at the end of paragraph (ii) of sub-regulation (7) the word “ or ”; and

(b) by omitting paragraph (iii) of sub-regulation (7).
