REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1964.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1964, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE REGULATIONS.  

Salaries payable to officers of the Fourth Division.

1.—(1.) Regulation 106 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from item 8 in the table in sub-regulation (4.) the figures "711" and inserting in their stead the figures "719".

Second Schedule.

4.—(1.) The Second Schedule to the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting item 1 and inserting in its stead the following items:—

" Apprentice..............................................................

1. He may, if he obtains a pass in all his subjects at an examination held at the end of a year of his course of training, be paid an allowance at the rate of £13 per annum in respect of the period of 12 months commencing from the beginning of the first pay period commencing in the month of January of the next succeeding year.

2. In addition to the allowance specified in the last preceding paragraph, he may, if he obtains a pass of not less than 75% of the possible marks in each of his subjects at an examination held at the end of a year of his course of training, be paid an allowance at the rate of £13 per annum in respect of the period of 12 months commencing from the beginning of the first pay period commencing in the month of January of the next succeeding year.

" 1a Boatman............................................................

1. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of £28 per annum if he holds a Master's Certificate, Rivers and Harbour.

2. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of £28 per annum if he holds an Engine-driver's Certificate.";

(b) by inserting after item 4 the following item:—

" 4a Cycle Mechanic-in-training.................................

1. He may, if he obtains a pass in all his subjects at an examination held at the end of a year of his course of training, be paid an allowance at the rate of £13 per annum in respect of the period of 12 months commencing from the beginning of the first pay period commencing in the month of January of the next succeeding year.

2. In addition to the allowance specified in the last preceding paragraph, he may, if he obtains a pass of not less than 75% of the possible marks in each of his subjects at an examination held at the end of a year of his course of training, be paid an allowance at the rate of £13 per annum in respect of the period of 12 months commencing from the beginning of the first pay period commencing in the month of January of the next succeeding year."; and

 

(c) by inserting after item 33 the following items:—

"33a Technician-in-training.......................................

1. He may, if he obtains a pass of not less than 75% of the possible marks in each of his subjects at an examination held at the end of a year of his course of training, be paid an allowance at the rate of £26 per annum in respect of the period of 12 months commencing from the beginning of the first pay period commencing in the month of January of the next succeeding year.

"33b Technician-in-training (Radio)...........................

1. He may, if he obtains a pass of not less than 75% of the possible marks in each of his subjects at an examination held at the end of a year of his course of training, be paid an allowance at the rate of £26 per annum in respect of the period of 12 months commencing from the beginning of the first pay period commencing in the month of January of the next succeeding year.".

(2.) This regulation shall be deemed to have come into operation on the ninth day of January, 1964.

Authority for payment of allowance.

5. An officer or employee who was employed as an Apprentice, Cycle Mechanic-in-training, Technician-in-training or Technician-in-training (Radio) for the whole or part of the period that commenced on the thirty-first day of October, 1963, and ended on the day immediately before the commencement of this regulation shall be paid an allowance of such an amount as will have the effect of raising his total remuneration in respect of the whole or part, as the case may be, of that period to the remuneration that the officer or employee would have received if the amendments made by sub-regulations (2.), (3.) and (4.) of regulation 1, and by regulation 2, of these Regulations had taken effect on the thirty-first day of October, 1963.
