REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1960.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1960, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations. 

Miscellaneous allowances.

1. Regulation 89a of the Public Service Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Sevenpence half-penny” and inserting in their stead the word “Ninepence”.

Variation of salaries.

2. Regulation 106a of the Public Service Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (2.) and inserting in its stead the following paragraph:—

“(b) an officer who occupies an office specified in Part 1 of the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations.”; and

(b) by omitting sub-regulation (3.).

Fourth Schedule.

3. The Fourth Schedule to the Public Service Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule inserted in its stead:—

Authority for payment of allowances.

4.—(1.) An officer or employee who performed the duties of an office specified in the first column of the table in this sub-regulation for the whole or a part of the period that commenced on the first day of July, 1963, and ended on the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations shall be paid an allowance equal to the difference between the total remuneration paid or payable to him in respect of the performance of those duties and the remuneration that would have been payable to him in respect of the whole or part, as the case may be, of that period if—

(a) he had, in that whole or part, performed the duties of an office to the occupant of which salary was payable in accordance with the rate of annual salary or the scale of rates of annual salary specified in the second column of that table in relation to the office the duties of which he performed; and

(b) sub-regulation (1.) of regulation 106a of the Public Service Regulations had been expressed not to apply to or in relation to the officer or employee.

(2.) An officer or employee who performed the duties of an office specified in the first column of the table in this sub-regulation for the whole or a part of the period that commenced on the ninth day of September, 1963, and ended on the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations shall be paid an allowance of such an amount as will have the effect of raising his total remuneration in respect of the whole or part, as the case may be, of that period to the remuneration that the officer or employee would have received if he had, in that whole or part, performed the duties of an office to the occupant of which salary was payable in accordance with the scale of rates of annual salary specified in the second column of that table in relation to the office the duties of which he performed.
