REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE
ACT 1922-1964.
1THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the
authority conferred upon it by the Public
Service Act 1922-1964, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the
Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public
Service Regulations.
21. Regulation
96a of the Public Service
Regulations is repealed and the following regulation inserted in its stead:—
Living out allowance— Nursing Staff.
“96a.—(1.) In this regulation—
‘hospital’ means—
(a) a Repatriation General
Hospital;
(b) an institution conducted by the
Repatriation Department; and
(c) a hospital in the Northern
Territory conducted by the Department of Health;

office to which this regulation applies ’ means any of the following offices:—

“(2.) Where
sleeping quarters are provided for the female nursing staff employed at a
hospital, a female officer or employee who performs, at the hospital, the
duties of an office to which this regulation applies shall, in respect of any
period during which the officer or employee is obliged to reside away from the
hospital because sleeping accommodation is not available at the hospital for
the officer or employee, be paid an allowance at the rate of One pound five
shillings per week.”

2. The Fourth Schedule to the Public
Service Regulations is amended by omitting Part 1 and inserting in its stead
the following Part:—

Authority for payment of allowance
3. The Public Service Board may authorize
the payment of an allowance, in respect of the period that commenced on the
first day of January, 1964, and ended on the day immediately before the
commencement of these Regulations, to each officer who occupied an office, and
to each officer or employee who performed the duties of an office, specified in
Part 1. of the Fourth Schedule to the Public Service Regulations during the
whole or a part of that period of such an amount as would result in the total
remuneration of the officer or employee for the whole or the part of that
period being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable
to the officer or employee if the amendment made by the last preceding
regulation had taken effect on the first day of January, 1964.
