REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1968.*

THE PUBLIC SERVICE BOARD, acting in pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred upon it by the Public Service Act 1922-1968, hereby makes, subject to the approval of the Governor-General, the following Regulations.

Amendments of the Public Service Regulations 

1. Regulation 40 of the Public Service Regulations is repealed and the following Regulation inserted in its stead:—

Bankrupt officers.

“ 40.—(1.) The Chief Officer to whom an officer who has become bankrupt gives notice under paragraph (a) of section 63 of the Act shall forward a copy of the notice to the Board and, where such an officer furnishes information in pursuance of a requirement under paragraph (b)of that section, the Chief Officer shall forward a copy of the information to the Board.

“ (2.) Where an officer who has become a bankrupt notifies the Chief Officer that he has been discharged from bankruptcy or that an order has been made annulling his bankruptcy, the Chief Officer shall forward a copy of the notification to the Board.”.

Salaries payable to officers of the Third Division.

2. Regulation 105 of the Public Service Regulations is amended by—

(a) omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “ Subject to sub-regulation (5.) of this regulation ” and inserting in their stead the words “ subject to this regulation ”;

(b) inserting after sub-regulation (3.) the following sub-regulation:—

“ (3a.) For the purposes of sub-section (2.) of section 30 of the Act, the rate of annual salary or the scale of rates of annual salary payable to a female officer who occupies an office in the Third Division specified or described in the first column of Part IV. of the Fourth Schedule to these Regulations is, subject to sub-regulation (6b.) of this regulation, the rate or scale of rates specified in the second column of that Schedule in relation to that office.”;

(c) omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words “ Subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation ” and inserting in their stead the words “ Subject to the next two succeeding sub-regulations ”;

(d)inserting in sub-regulation (6.), after the word “ office ”, the words “ (other than an office of Valuer-in-training or Dental Therapist-in-training) ”;

(e) omitting the table in sub-regulation (6.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

1. He shall, while in charge of a non-electronic observing station, be paid an allowance at an annual rate equal to the difference between his rate of annual salary and the rate of $3,255.00.

2. He shall, while in charge of an electronic observing station, be paid an allowance at an annual rate equal to the difference between his rate of annual salary and the rate of $3,430.00.

1. He shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $87.00 per annum if he has passed a test conducted by or on behalf of the Board in the operational procedures appropriate to the section in which he is employed.

2. He shall, if he occupies an office in the Commonwealth Bureau of Meteorology, Department of the Interior, be paid an allowance at the rate of $87.00 per annum on passing a test determined by the Board for the purpose.

3. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $379.00 per annum while in charge of the Central Sterilizing Department, Repatriation General Hospital, Concord, or Repatriation General Hospital, Heidelberg.

4. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $246.00 per annum while employed as Evening Superintendent.

5. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $379.00 per annum while employed as Night Superintendent.

6. She shall be paid an allowance atthe rate of $492.00 per annum while in charge of Outpatients’ Clinic at Sydney or Melbourne.

7. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $80.00 per annum in respect of each post-graduate nursing certificate of the College of Nursing, Australia or the New South Wales College of Nursing recognised by the Board and held by her if she performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates.

8. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $53.00 per annum in respect of each post-graduate nursing certificate, other than a certificate referred to in the last preceding paragraph, recognised by the Board and held by her if she performs duties of the kind to which the certificate relates.

1. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $87.00 per annum if she has passed a test conducted by or on behalf of the Board in the operation procedures appropriate to Telex Exchanges.

1. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $87.00 per annum if she has not satisfied the Board as to her efficiency at writing shorthand at the rate of not less than 80 words per minute and her rate of salary does not exceed $2,038.00 per annum and—

(a) she has passed a test conducted by or on behalf of the Board in typing at the rate of 50 words per minute and in typing letters and documents with due regard to punctuation and form; or

(b)she is employed full time on the operation of a Verityper and has passed a test determined by the Board for the purpose of this sub-paragraph.

2. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $58.00 per annum for each day on which she is employed solely on the transcription by typewriter of recorded dictation if—

(a) she is in receipt of the allowance specified in subparagraph (a)of the last preceding paragraph; and

(b)she has passed an examination conducted by or on behalf of the Board for the purposes of this subparagraph.

3. She shall be paid an allowance at the rate per annum specified in the second column of the table in this paragraph opposite to the speed in words per minute equal to the highest rate at which she has satisfied the Board as to her efficiency at writing shorthand and correctly transcribing that shorthand.
