REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1960.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, on the recommendation of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby make the following Regulations under the Public Service Act 1922-1960.

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE (PARLIAMENTARY OFFICERS) REGULATIONS.  

Meal allowances.

1. Regulation 55 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (1.) the words “Seven shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Nine shillings”.

Rates of travelling allowances.

2. Regulation 57 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting the table in sub-regulation (1.) and inserting in its stead the following table:—

(b) by omitting from sub-regulation (2.) the words “Three pounds seventeen shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Four pounds ten shillings”; and

(c) by omitting sub-regulation (3.) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—

“(3.) After an officer or employee has resided in the one locality for a period of twenty-one days, the officer or employee shall, subject to sub-regulation (5.) of this regulation, be paid an allowance equal to the amount expended by the officer or employee on accommodation, sustenance and incidental expenses or, if the Parliamentary Head is satisfied that the amount so expended is not reasonable having regard to the status of the officer or employee and the purposes for which the officer or employee is performing duty whilst absent from his headquarters, such amount as the Parliamentary Head considers reasonable in the circumstances.”.

Officers and employees on duty away from headquarters; allowance on sick leave.

3. Regulation 60 of the Public Service (parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting sub-regulation (2.).
