REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1960.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, on the recommendation of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby make the following Regulations under the Public Service Act 1922-1960.

AMENDMENTS OF THE PUBLIC SERVICE (PARLIAMENTARY OFFICERS) REGULATIONS. 

Modification of application of certain provisions.

1. After regulation 4 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations the following regulation is inserted:—

“4A. In the application of a provision of these Regulations specified in the first column of the table in this regulation to and in relation to an officer—

(a) who occupies an office in the Third Division; or

(b)who occupies an office in the Fourth Division of—

(i) Chef;

(ii) Assistant Manager (Bars);

(iii) Assistant Manager (Dining Rooms);

(iv) Principal Cook;

(v) Head Pantryman;

(vi) Senior Barman;

(vii) Senior Storeman;

(viii) Bar Attendant; or

(ix) Kitchen Assistant,

a reference in the provision to an amount specified in the second column of that table in relation to the provision shall be read as a reference to the amount specified in the third column of that table opposite to the first-mentioned amount.

Rates of travelling allowances.

2. Regulation 57 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (1.) the figures “£1,737”, “£1,738”, “£1,583” and “£1,584” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,849”, “£1,850”, “£1,695” and “£1,696”, respectively.

Fares.

3. Regulation 64 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting the figures “£1,028” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,070”.

Overtime.

4. Regulation 65 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (5.) the figures “£1,298” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,366”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (5.) the figures “£1,144” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,212”;

(c) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (8.) the figures “£2,358” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,389”; and

(d)by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (8.) the figures “£2,204” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,235”.

Saturday duty by certain officers of the Fourth Division.

5. Regulation 65AA of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (5.) the figures “£1,298” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,366”; and

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (5.) the figures “£1,144” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,212”.

Sunday duty.

6. Regulation 65B of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (6.) the figures “£1,298” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,366”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (6.) the figures “£1,144” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,212”;

(c) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (7.) the figures “£2,358” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,389”; and

(d) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (7.) the figures “£2,204” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,235”.

Payment for duty on a holiday.

7.Regulation 65C of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (8.) the figures “£1,298” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,366”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (8.) the figures “£1,144” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,212”; and

(c) by omitting from sub-regulation (9.) the figures “£2,358” and “£2,204” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,389” and “£2,235”, respectively.

Higher duties.

8. Regulation 66 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (3.) the figures “£1,188” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,245”;

(b) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (3.) the figures “£1,034” and inserting in their stead the figures “£1,091”;

(c) by omitting from paragraph (a)of sub-regulation (17.) the figures “£2,098” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,246”; and

(d) by omitting from paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (17.) the figures “£1,944” and inserting in their stead the figures “£2,092”.

Partial reimbursement of fares of certain officers.

9. Regulation 70D of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by omitting from sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (1.) the figures “£740” and inserting in their stead the figures “£752”; and

(b)by omitting from sub-paragraph (ii) of paragraph (b) of sub-regulation (1.) the figures “£848” and inserting in their stead the figures “£888”.

Salaries and allowances of officers of the Fourth Division.

10. Regulation 72 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (4.) the figures “£532”, “£556”, “£574”, “£594” and “£614” and inserting in their stead the figures “£566”, “£594”, “£622”, “£650” and “£678”, respectively;

(b)by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (5.) the figures “555” and inserting in their stead the figures “566”;

(c) by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (6.) the figures “555”, “580”, “606”, “631” and “657” and inserting in their stead the figures “566”, “594”, “622”, “650” and “678”, respectively;

(d) by omitting from paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (8.) the words “Twenty-four pounds” and inserting in their stead the words “Thirty-four pounds”;

(e) by omitting from sub-paragraph (iii) of paragraph (a) of sub-regulation (8.) the words “Six hundred and fourteen pounds” and inserting in their stead the words “Six hundred and seventy-eight pounds”; and

(f) by omitting from the table in paragraph (b)of sub-regulation (8.) the figures “30”, “60” and “90” and inserting in their stead the figures “42”, “84” and “126”, respectively.

Variation of salaries.

11. Regulation 73 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting from the table in sub-regulation (3A.) the figures “555” and inserting in their stead the figures “566”.

The Schedule.

12. The Schedule to the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is repealed and the following Schedule inserted in its stead:—

Authority for payment of allowances.

13. The Parliamentary Head may authorize the payment of an allowance, in respect of the period that commenced on the second day of May, 1963, and ended on the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, to each officer and employee of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer or employee being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer or employee in respect of that period if the amendments made by these Regulations had taken effect on the second day of May, 1963.
