REGULATIONS UNDER THE PUBLIC SERVICE ACT 1922-1964.*

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, on the recommendation of the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby make the following Regulations under the Public Service Act 1922-1964.

Amendments of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations

Commencement.

1. These Regulations shall be deemed to have come into operation on the twenty-first day of July, 1966.

Overtime.

2. Regulation 65 of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended—

(a) by inserting after sub-regulation (4.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(4a.) For the purposes of the last preceding sub-regulation, ‘Annual salary’, in relation to an officer, includes the amount by which the salary payable to the officer is increased in accordance with regulation 73 of these Regulations.”; and

(b)by omitting from sub-regulation (5.) the words “Two shillings” and inserting in their stead the words “Twenty cents”.

Saturday duty by certain officers of the Fourth-Division.

3. Regulation 65aa of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (2.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(2a.) For the purposes of the last preceding sub-regulation, ‘Actual annual rate of salary’, in relation to an officer, includes the amount by which the salary payable to the officer is increased in accordance with regulation 73 of these Regulations.”.

Sunday duty.

4. Regulation 65b of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by inserting after sub-regulation (5.) the following sub-regulation:—

“(6.) For the purposes of the last preceding sub-regulation, ‘Annual salary’, in relation to an officer, includes the amount by which the salary payable to the officer is increased in accordance with regulation 73 of these Regulations”.

Payment for duty on a holiday.

5. Regulation 65c of the Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations is amended by omitting from sub-regulation (5a.) the words—

“A is the amount of the annual salary of the officer; and”

and inserting in their stead the words—

“A is the amount of the annual salary of the officer including the amount by which his salary is increased in accordance with regulation 73 of these Regulations; and”.

6. The Public Service (Parliamentary Officers) Regulations are amended by omitting the heading—

“Part V.—Variations of Salaries—Officers of Second, Third and

Fourth Divisions”

and inserting in its stead the following heading and regulation—

“Part V.—Variations of Salaries—Officers of Second, Third and

Fourth Divisions.

Variation of salaries.

“73.—(1.) The rate of salary payable to an officer included in a class of officers specified in the first column of the table in this sub-regulation shall, subject to this regulation, be increased by the amount per annum specified in the second column of that table opposite to the description of that class of officer.

“(2.) The last preceding sub-regulation does not apply to or in relation to an officer of the First Division.

“(3.) The salary payable to an officer who has not attained the age of twenty-one years shall be increased as if that officer had attained that age if—

(a)he occupies an office for which the rates of salary payable to an officer under twenty-one years of age are prescribed, but, having complied with a condition of advancement determined by the Parliamentary Head in pursuance of section 32 of the Act in respect of that office, he is paid salary at a rate higher than the rate prescribed for an officer of his age occupying that office; or

(b)he occupies an office in respect of which the rates of salary payable to an officer under the age of twenty-one years occupying such an office are not prescribed.

“(4.) The rate of annual salary payable to an officer who occupies an office of Accounting Machinist (Female), Grade 1, or Typist (Female) shall be increased by the amount specified in the second column of the table in this sub-regulation opposite to the rate of salary payable to the officer.
