I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL
in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal
Executive Council, and on the recommendation of the President of the Senate and
the Speaker of the House of Representatives, hereby make the following Regulations
under the

(
b )by omitting sub-regulations (2.) and (3.) and inserting in their stead the following sub-regulations:—“(2.) For the purposes of sub-section (2.) of section 30 of the Act, the rate of annual salary or the scale of rates of annual salary payable to an officer who occupies an office in the Second Division or Third Division specified in the second column of the First Schedule to these Regulations is, subject to the next succeeding sub-regulation, the rate or scale of rates specified in the third column of that Schedule in relation to that office.
“(3.) Subject to sub-regulation (5.) of this regulation, the rate of annual salary, or each of the rates in a scale of rates of annual salary, applicable to an office under sub-regulation (1.) or sub-regulation (2.) of this regulation shall, in relation to a female officer occupying that office, be deemed to be $402.00 less than the rate applicable in relation to a male officer occupying that office.”.
(2.) The Parliamentary Head may authorize the payment of an allowance, in respect of the period from and including the second day of February, 1967, to and including the day immediately before the commencement of these Regulations, to each officer and employee, other than an officer entitled to an allowance under the last preceding sub-regulation, of such an amount as would result in the total remuneration of the officer or employee being not less than the total remuneration that would have been payable to the officer or employee in respect of that period if the amendments made by these Regulations had taken effect on the second day of February, 1967.
