This order in council may be cited as the Public Service Management and Employment (Departmental Changes) Order (No. 2) 1996 . PART 2—PREMIER ˙ Creation of entities 2. The following entities are created and added to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet— • Cabinet Secretariat • Centre for Economic and Environmental Research • Community and Social Services Council • Economic Development Advisory Council • Information Planning Board • Office of Indigenous Affairs • Queensland Energy Planning Council. ˙ Amalgamation 3. The part of the Department of Family and Community Services known as the Bureau of Ethnic Affairs is amalgamated with the Department of the Premier and Cabinet.

The part of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General relating to arts is amalgamated with the Treasury Department. PART 4—MINISTER FOR FAMILIES, YOUTH AND COMMUNITY CARE ˙ Departmental name change 5. The name of the Department of Family and Community Services is changed to the Department of Families, Youth and Community Care. ˙ Creation of entity 6. An entity called the Community Advisory Council is created and added to the Department of Families, Youth and Community Care. ˙ Amalgamation 7. The part of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Youth relating to youth affairs is amalgamated with the Department of Families, Youth and Community Care.

The name of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General is changed to the Department of Justice. ˙ Amalgamations 9. The following parts of departments are amalgamated with the Department of Justice— • the part of Queensland Emergency Services known as the Office of Consumer Affairs • the part of the Department of Family and Community Services relating to juvenile justice • the part of the Department of Family and Community Services known as the Public Trust Office. PART 6—MINISTER FOR POLICE AND CORRECTIVE SERVICES AND MINISTER FOR RACING ˙ Amalgamation 10. The part of the Department of Primary Industries known as the Office of Racing is amalgamated with the Department of Police.

A department of government called the Department of Tourism, Small Business and Industry is brought into being by amalgamating the following departments and declaring the entity to be a department of government— • Department of Business, Industry and Regional Development • Department of Tourism, Sport and Youth. ˙ Creation of entities 12. The following entities are created and added to the Department of Tourism, Small Business and Industry— • Office of Business and Industry • Office of Tourism. PART 8—MINISTER FOR ENVIRONMENT ˙ Departmental name change 13. The name of the Department of Environment and Heritage is changed to the Department of Environment. ˙ Creation of entity 14. An entity called the Environment Protection Council is created and added to the Department of Environment.

The name of the Department of Minerals and Energy is changed to the Department of Mines and Energy. PART 10—MINISTER FOR PRIMARY INDUSTRIES, FISHERIES AND FORESTRY ˙ Departmental name change 16. The name of the Department of Primary Industries is changed to the Department of Primary Industries, Fisheries and Forestry. PART 11—MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND PLANNING ˙ Departmental name change 17. The name of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Planning is changed to the Department of Local Government and Planning. ˙ Amalgamations 18. The following parts of the Administrative Services Department are amalgamated with the Department of Local Government and Planning— • Countrynet • QDIAL.

The name of the Department of Employment, Vocational Education, Training and Industrial Relations is changed to the Department of Training and Industrial Relations. ˙ Amalgamation 20. The part of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General relating to industrial relations is amalgamated with the Department of Training and Industrial Relations. PART 13—MINISTER FOR NATURAL RESOURCES ˙ Departmental name change 21. The name of the Department of Lands is changed to the Department of Natural Resources. ˙ Amalgamations 22. The parts of the Department of Primary Industries relating to the following matters are amalgamated with the Department of Natural Resources— • Crown land quarry sales • natural resource management relating to— • land conservation • catchment management • water resource management.

A department of government is brought into being by declaring an entity called the Department of Main Roads to be a department of government. ˙ Creation of entity 24. An entity called the Queensland Transport Infrastructure Coordination Council is created and added to the Department of Transport. ˙ Amalgamations 25.(1) The part of the Department of Transport relating to roads is amalgamated with the Department of Main Roads. (2) The part of the Department of Education relating to school transport assistance is amalgamated with the Department of Transport. PART 15—MINISTER FOR PUBLIC WORKS AND HOUSING ˙ Departmental name change 26. The name of the Administrative Services Department is changed to the Department of Public Works and Housing. ˙ Amalgamations 27. The parts of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Planning relating to the following matters are amalgamated with the Department of Public Works and Housing—

The name of Queensland Emergency Services is changed to the Department of Emergency Services. ˙ Creation of entities 29. The following entities are created and added to the Department of Emergency Services— • Emergency Services Advisory Council • Office of Sport. ˙ Amalgamation 30. The part of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Youth relating to sport is amalgamated with the Department of Emergency Services. PART 17—MISCELLANEOUS ˙ Discontinuance of parts of departments 31. The following parts of departments are discontinued— • the part of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet known as

The PublicServiceManagementandEmploymentAct1988 , schedule 1 is amended by omitting all the names of departments specified in the first column and all the titles of the offices specified in the second column, and inserting the names of departments and titles of offices specified in the schedule to this order.
