PUBLIC SERVICE (INQUIRIES) AMENDMENT ACT.
Act No. 1, 1953.
An Act to make provisions relating to inquiries and investigations under the Public Service Act, 1902, as amended by subsequent Acts; for this purpose to amend the said Act, as so amended, in certain respects ; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected therewith. | Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :— | |
| 1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Public Service (Inquiries) Amendment Act, 1953". | |
| (2) This- Act shall be deemed to have commenced on the thirteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-three. | |
| 2 . The Public Service Act, 1902, as amended by subsequent Acts, is amended— |
(a) by omitting section ten and by inserting in lieu
thereof the following section:—
10. For the purposes of any inquiry or investi gation under this Act the Chairman and each Member of the Board shall have the powers, authorities, protections and immunities con ferred on a commissioner by Division 1 of Par t I I of the Royal Commissions Acts, 1923-1934, and the Chairman or Member presiding shall have the powers and authorities conferred on the Chairman of a commission within the mean ing of that Act.

The provisions of the Royal Commissions Acts, 1923-1934, with the exception of section thirteen and Division 2 of Par t II , shall mutatis mutandis apply to and in respect of any such inquiry or investigation and to and in respect of any witness or person summoned hy or appear- ing before the Board.

after the word " p r e s e n t " the words " the Board may be constituted by two members, or" .
