AN ACT to amend the Public Service Appeal Board

Act, 1920-1950.

[Assented to 2nd December, 1960.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Public Service and ga.tt

Appeal Board Act Amendment Act, 1960.

2. This Act shall come into operation on a day

to be fixed by proclamation.

3. Section two of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by repealing paragraph (b) of subsection (1) and deleting the word, "or" immediately following that paragraph and paragraph (c) of subsection (1); and

(b)

by deleting the passage commencing with the word, "is", being the first word in line one of paragraph (d) of subsection (1) and ending with the word, "but" in line six of the paragraph.

4. Section three of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting the words, "the teaching staff of the Education Department and" in lines two and three of paragraph (a) of subsec- tion (2);

(b)

by substituting for the word, "are" in line four of paragraph (a) of subsection (2), the word, "is";

(c)

by repealing paragraph (b) of subsection (2); and

(d)

by deleting the passage, "including the teaching staff of the Education Depart- ment," in lines three and four of paragraph (c) of subsection (2).

5. Section six of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting the passage, "the Minister of Education," in lines five and six of para- graph (a) of subsection (1);

(b)

by deleting the passage, "or the State School Teachers' Union of Western Austra- lia," in lines three, four and five of paragraph (d) of subsection (1) and the passage, ", the Minister of Education," in line thirteen of that paragraph; and

(c)

by deleting the words, "or the Minister of Education" in line three of subsection (5) and substituting for the words, "sections twelve and thirteen" in line four of that subsection, the words, "section twelve."

6.    Subsection (1) of section seven of the principal ?mended.

Act is amended by deleting the words, "or the State School Teachers' Union of Western Australia on behalf of employees on the teaching staff of the Education Department" in lines seven, eight and nine.

(a)

by adding after the passage "concerned," in line one, the word, "and"; and

(b)

by deleting the passage, ", and the Director of Education," in lines two and three.

9. Section thirteen of the principal Act is ap1e3aled.

10. Section eighteen of the principal Act is amended by deleting the passage "the Elementary Education Act, 1871, and its amendments," in lines one and two.
