PUBLIC SERVICE AND STATUTORY SALARIES

ADJUSTMENT (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 62, 1961.

An Act to provide for the appointment of a Deputy Chairman of the Public Service Board; for this and other purposes to amend the Public Service Act, 1902, as amended by subsequent Acts, and the Statutory Salaries Adjustment Act, 1961; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 11th December, 1961.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in
Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: —

(1) This Act may be cited as the "Public Service and Statutory Salaries Adjustment (Amendment) Act, 1961".

(2) This Act shall, except where otherwise expressly
provided, be deemed to have commenced upon the twenty-
ninth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-one.

2. (1) The Public Service Act, 1902, as amended by subsequent Acts, is amended—

(a) by inserting in subsection three of section seven after the words "Chairman of the Board" the words "and another shall be appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board";

(b)

by inserting next after the same subsection the following new subsection : —

(3A) In case of the illness, suspension or absence of the chairman, the deputy chairman shall act in his place and whilst so acting may exercise all the powers and authority of the chairman, other than those conferred by subsection (5A) of this section.

(c)

by inserting in subsection four of the same section after the word "chairman" the words "or of deputy chairman";

(d)

by inserting in subsection live of the same section after the word "chairman" wherever occurring the words "or deputy chairman";

(e) by omitting subsection seven of the same section;

(f) (i) by omitting from subsection nine of the same section the words "two thousand five hundred pounds" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "six thousand six hundred pounds; the deputy chairman, five thousand five hundred pounds";

(ii)   by omitting from the same subsection the words "one thousand five hundred pounds" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "five thousand pounds";

(iii)   by inserting in the same subsection before the words "Such salaries" the following new paragraph : —

The members of the Board shall respectively receive allowances for special expenses incurred by them in respect of their offices at the following yearly rates : —The chairman, five hundred pounds; each of the other members

of the Board, two hundred and fifty pounds.
(iv) by inserting in the same subsection after the words "Such salaries" the words "and allowances".

(2) The amendments made by subparagraphs (iii) and
(iv) of paragraph (f) of subsection one of this section shall
be deemed to have commenced upon the first day of

3. (1) The Statutory Salaries Adjustment Act, 1961, is

by omitting from the First Schedule the following words and figures : —
