AN ACT to amend section thirty-one of the Public Service Act, 1904-1975 and to repeal and re-enact section forty-five of that Act.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

Section 31
| amended. | 3. | Section 31 of the principal Act is amended by |
adding after subsection (6) subsections as follows
(7) Any person who has been continuously employed under this section for periods exceeding, in the aggregate, five years, and whose duties are similar to those of an officer of the permanent staff of the Public Service or are proper for an officer on that permanent staff to perform, may apply to the Board for appointment to that permanent staff.
(8) The Board shall determine any application made pursuant to subsection (7) of this section and an appeal shall lie to The Public Service Appeal Board established by Part III of the Public Service Arbitration Act, 1966 from any determination of the Board so made. .

Any officer may appeal from a decision, determination or recommendation of the Board under section forty-two or forty-four to The Public Service Appeal Board established by Part III of the Public Service Arbitration Act, 1966, and that Board shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine the appeal under and subject to the provisions of that Part of that Act. . |
