PUBLIC NOTARIES AMENDMENT

ACT 1997

AN ACT to amend the Public Notaries Act 1979.

[Assented to 10 December 1997.]

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Short title

1.   This Act may be cited as the Public Notaries Amendment

Act 1997.

Commencement

2.   This Act comes into operation on such day as is fixed by

proclamation.

Principal Act

3.   In this Act the Public Notaries Act 1979* is referred to as

the principal Act.

Section 15A inserted

4.   The principal Act is amended by inserting after section 15

the following section —

‘‘

Fees to be charged by Public Notaries

15A. A Public Notary may charge a fee for providing notarial services but that fee shall not exceed the fee for those services fixed from time to time by a determination under section 58W of the Legal Practitioners Act 1893.

’’.

Section 17 amended

5.   Section 17 (c) of the principal Act is amended by deleting

‘‘and the fees to be charged by’’.
