His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Public Lotteries Act 1996.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to prohibit the offering or supply of free or discounted liquor as an inducement to participate in any public lottery conducted under the Public Lotteries Act 1996 (which include games of chance such as lotto and keno).
This Regulation is made under the Public Lotteries Act 1996, including sections 83
(the general regulation-making power) and 83A.

1 Name of Regulation
This Regulation is the Public Lotteries Amendment (Gambling
Inducements) Regulation 2002.
2 Commencement
This Regulation commences on 2 April 2002.
3 Amendment of Public Lotteries Regulation 1996
The Public Lotteries Regulation 1996 is amended as set out in
Schedule 1.

Clause 7H
Insert after clause 7G:
7H Gambling inducements
(1)
A licensee or agent of a licensee, or an employee of a licensee or agent of a licensee, must not offer or supply any free or discounted liquor as an inducement to participate, or to participate frequently, in any public lottery conducted by the licensee.
Maximum penalty: 50 penalty units.
(2) In subclause (1), liquor has the same meaning as in the Liquor
Act 1982.
