Preamble.

the raising of Public Loans and to authorize the application of such Loans to the purposes of the said Acts generally Be it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and eonsent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled and by the authority of the same as follows :—

they shall be applied to the purposes of the said several Acts as therein directed in such proportions as the Governor with the advice of the Executive Council shall from time to time by warrant or other writing under his hand and addressed to the Colonial Treasurer order and direct anything in the said Acts or in the Acts of Council eighteenth Victoria numbers thirty-four and thirty-six and nineteenth Victoria numbers forty and forty-two or in the Act of the said Parliament twentieth Victoria number forty or in any other Act to the contrary notwithstanding Provided also that nothing contained in this Act shall authorize the appropriation to any of the works or services set forth in the said Acts of any larger sum than is therein appropriated for any such work or service Provided also that the aceounts of all moneys so borrowed and of the several purposes to which the same shall he applied shall annually be laid before both IIouscs of the said Parliament and shall he examinable in like manner as moneys forming part of the Current Annual Revenue and Expenditure of the Colony.

Commencement and

short title.

1. This Act shall commence and take effect on the day of the passing thereof and shall he styled and may be cited as the “ Public Loan Acts Consolidation Act of 1857.”
