Public Hospitals (Amendment) 1985

BE it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1. This Act may be cited as the “Public Hospitals (Amendment) Act,

1985” .

Amendment of Act No. 8, 1929.

2. The Public Hospitals Act, 1929, is amended in manner set forth in

Schedule 1.

(Sec. 2.)

A mendments to the P ublic H ospitals Act , 1929.

(1) Part II, heading—

Omit the heading, insert instead:—

PART II.

Administration .

(2) Section 29ia—

Before section 29j, insert:—

Minister to conduct, etc., hospitals in Fifth Schedule.

29ia. The Minister shall conduct, manage, maintain and operate

and, where necessary, extend and improve the hospitals mentioned

in the Fifth Schedule.

(3) (a) Section 40a (3)—

After “benefit o f ’, insert “necessitous patients or” .

(b) Section 40a (4)—

After section 40a (3), insert:—

(4) The provisions of subsections (1), (2) and (3) apply to the hospitals mentioned in the Fifth Schedule and, for the purpose of the application of those provisions, the money and personal effects referred to in those subsections shall be the property of the Minister.
