143 ~uccmda11b ANNO UNDECIMO ELIZABETHAE SECUNDAE REGINAE •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• No. 20 of 1962 An Act to Make Provision for a Public Holiday on the Occasion of the Visit to this State of Our Sovereign Lady, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second [ASSENTED TO 10TH DECEMBER, 1962] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as "The Public Holidays (Royal Visit) Act of 1962." 2. Holiday to celebrate Royal Visit. (1) Subject to this Act the Minister may, by notification published in the Gazette, appoint a day to be observed as a public holiday in connection with the visit to this
144 Public Holidays (Royal Visit) Act of 1962, No. 20 State, in or about the month of March, one thousand nine hundred and sixty-three, of Our Sovereign Lady, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. (2) The aforesaid power of appointment shall include power in the Minister to, at his discretion- (a) appoint different days in respect of different localities in the State; (b) where such an appointment is made in respect of a locality, define that locality in the notification thereof published in the Gazette by reference to the Areas of Local Authorities or in any other manner sufficient in his opinion to identify it; and (c) by a further notification published in the Gazette, revoke any prior such notification and appoint, in lieu of any day specified in the revoked notification, another day. 3. Application of s. 10 of 3 Geo. V No. 17 ands. 14 (3) of 10 Eliz. D No. 2S to public holiday UDder this Act. The provisions of section ten of "The Holidays Acts, 1912 to 1961,'' shall apply to and with respect to a public holiday appointed as such by the Minister under this Act and for that purpose every appointment under this Act shall have force and effect as if made under that lastmentioned Act. The provisions in respect of Labour Day of subsection (3) of section fourteen of '"The Industrial Conciliation and ArbitrationAct of 1961", shall also apply and extend to and with respect to a public holiday appointed as such by the Minister under this Act and for that purpose those provisions shall have force and effect as if, as well as Labour Day, every such public holiday were specified therein: Provided that, where a public holiday shall have been appointed by the Minister under this Act in respect of a locality then the application by virtue of this section of the provisions respectively of section ten of "The Holidays Acts, 1912 to 1961," and, in respect of Labour Day, of subsection (3) of section fourteen of "The Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act of 1961", to and with respect to that public holiday shall be limited to that locality. 4. Interpretation. (1) Where subsequent to the passing of this Act the provisions referred to in this Act of any other Act are amended or other provisions are enacted in their stead, then the reference in question shall be deemed to be to those provisions as so amended or, as the case may be, the other provisions so enacted.
