Medical Conditions) Order 2015

under the

Public Health Act 2010

I, the Minister for Health, in pursuance of sections 51 (2) and 81 of the Public Health Act 2010, make the following Order.

Explanatory note
The object of this Order is to amend the Public Health Act 2010 to add acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease in a person under the age of 35 years to:

(a)

the list of medical conditions in Schedule 1 to that Act that must be notified by medical practitioners to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and

(b) the list of notifiable diseases in Schedule 2 to that Act:

(i)

that must be notified by health practitioners providing care in hospitals to the chief executive officer of the hospital concerned, and

(ii)

that must be notified by the chief executive officer of a hospital to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health.

This Order is made under sections 51 (2) and 81 of the Public Health Act 2010.

2      Commencement

This Order commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

(1) Schedule 1 Scheduled medical conditions

Insert the following in alphabetical order in Category 1:

Acute rheumatic fever

Rheumatic heart disease in a person under the age of 35 years

(2) Schedule 2 Notifiable diseases
Insert the following in alphabetical order:

Acute rheumatic fever
Rheumatic heart disease in a person under the age of 35 years
