I, the Minister for Health, in pursuance of section 51 (2) of the Public Health
Act 2010, make the following Order.

Explanatory note
The object of this Order is to amend the list of medical conditions that must be notified by laboratories to the Director-General of the Ministry of Health by adding Hendra virus infection and Rotavirus, reducing the blood lead level for lead poisoning and updating the description of the E. coli infection.

This Order is made under section 51 (2) of the Public Health Act 2010.

1      Name of Order

This Order is the Public Health Amendment (Scheduled Medical
Conditions) Order 2012.

2      Commencement

This Order commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Public Health Act 2010 No 127

(1) Schedule 1 Scheduled medical conditions

Insert the following in alphabetical order in Category 3:

Hendra virus infection
Rotavirus
Shiga toxin-producing and Vero toxin-producing

Escherichia coli infection (STEC/VTEC)

(2) Schedule 1, Category 3
Omit “Lead poisoning (as defined by a blood lead level of or above
15μg/dL)”.
Insert instead “Lead poisoning (as defined by a blood lead level of or above 10μg/dL)”.
(3) Schedule 1, Category 3
Omit “Verotoxin-producing Escherichia coli infection”.
