Order 2020

under the

Public Health Act 2010

I, the Minister for Health and Medical Research, in pursuance of sections 51(2) and 81 of the

Public Health Act 2010, make the following Order.

Explanatory note

The object of this Order is to amend the Public Health Act 2010 to add Novel Coronavirus 2019 to—

(a)

the list of medical conditions in Schedule 1 to that Act—

(i)	that must be notified by medical practitioners and pathology laboratories to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health, and
(ii)	for which the Secretary of the Ministry of Health may direct a person to undergo a medical examination, and
(iii)	for which authorised medical practitioners may make a public health order, and

(b)

the list of medical conditions in Schedule 1A to that Act for which authorised medical practitioners may make a public health order, and

(c)

the list of notifiable diseases in Schedule 2 to that Act—

(i)	that must be notified by health practitioners providing care or treatment in hospitals to the chief executive officer of the hospital, and
(ii)	that must be notified by the chief executive officer of a hospital to the Secretary of the Ministry of Health.

This Order is made under sections 51(2) and 81 of the Public Health Act 2010.

1      Name of Order

This Order is the Public Health Amendment (Scheduled Medical Conditions and

Notifiable Diseases) Order 2020.

2      Commencement

This Order commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

(1) Schedule 1 Scheduled medical conditions

Insert “Novel Coronavirus 2019” in alphabetical order in Categories 2, 3 and 4.

(2)	Schedule 1A Contact order conditions
Insert in appropriate order in the table to the Schedule—
Novel Coronavirus 2019 14 days
(3)	Schedule 2 Notifiable diseases
Insert “Novel Coronavirus 2019” in alphabetical order.
