PUBLIC HEALTH (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 12,1961.

An Act to enable the Director-General o f Public Health Elizabeth n,

to nominate persons to act in his place on certain boards and committees; for this and other purposes to amend the Public Health Act, 1902, and certain other Acts; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 22nd March, 1961.]

T>E it enacted by the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty, by -O and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: —

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the “Public Health Short title

(Amendment) Act, 1961”. ^nceme'nt.

No. 12,1961 (2) This Act shall commence upon a day to be appointed by the Governor and notified by proclamation published in the Gazette.

Amendment 2. (1) The Public Health Act, 1902, as amended by sub­

(2) The Public Health Act, 1902, as amended by sub­ sequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Public Health Act, 1902-1961.

The president of the advisory committee may from time to time nominate a person to act in his place as a member, and as the president, of the advisory committee, and any such person so acting shall be deemed to be a member of the advisory committee and shall preside at meetings of the advisory committee at which he is present.

(2) The Pure Food Act, 1908, as amended by subse­ quent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Pure Food Act. 1908-1961.

4.     (1) The Nurses Registration Act, 1953, as amended by No. 12, 1961

5.     (1) The Poisons Act, 1952, as amended by subsequent Amendment

(2) The Poisons Act, 1952, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Poisons Act, 1952­ 1961.

(2) The Medical Practitioners Act, 1938, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Medical Practitioners Act, 1938-1961.

Amendment 7. (1) The Mental Health Act, 1958, is amended—^

The Director of State Psychiatric Services and the Deputy Director of State Psychiatric Services shall, in the exercise or performance of their powers, authorities, duties and functions, be subject in all respects to the control and direction of the Director- General of State Psychiatric Services.

(2) The Mental Health Act, 1958, as amended by this

Act, may be cited as the Mental Health Act, 1958-1961.
