Amendments Regulation 2000

Public Health Act 1991

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Public Health Act 1991.

Explanatory note
The objects of this Regulation are:

(a)	to amend the Public Health Act 1991 to provide that Shigellosis is a Category 3 medical condition (as a result, a person suffering from Shigellosis will be required to take reasonable precautions against spreading the condition and a testing laboratory will be required to notify the Director-General of the Department of Health when a test for such a condition returns a positive result), and
(b)	to amend the Public Health Regulation 1991 to increase the fees payable for an application for an approval of equipment for a crematory and for an application for approval to exhume the remains of a body, and
(c)	to amend the Public Health (Microbial Control) Regulation 2000 to increase the fee payable for an application for approval of a warm water system for ablution purposes.

This Regulation is made under the Public Health Act 1991, including sections 80 and 82 (the general power to make regulations).

1     Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Public Health Miscellaneous Amendments

Regulation 2000.

2 Commencement

(1) This Regulation commences on the date of publication of this

Regulation in the Gazette, except as provided by this clause.

(2) Clause 3 commences on 1 February 2001.

3 Amendment of Public Health Act 1991

Schedule 1 to the Public Health Act 1991 is amended by inserting
“Shigellosis” in alphabetical order in Category 3.

4 Amendment of Public Health Regulation 1991

The Public Health Regulation 1991 is amended as set out in
Schedule 1.

5 Amendment of Public Health (Microbial Control) Regulation 2000

The Public Health (Microbial Control) Regulation 2000 is amended as set out is Schedule 2.

6 Notes

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.
