Public Health Amendment (Scheduled

Medical Conditions) Regulation 1998

Public Health Act 1991

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Public Health Act 1991.

Explanatory note

The Public Health Act 1991 imposes a number of requirements relating to various medical conditions. The conditions are listed in different categories with the requirements varying between those categories. In the case of a Category 3 medical condition, a person suffering from such a condition is required to take reasonable steps against spreading it and a testing laboratory is required to notify the Director-General of the Department of Health when a test for such a condition returns a positive result.

Category 3 medical conditions listed in the Act.

The object of this Regulation is to add five medical conditions to the section 80.

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Public Health Amendment (Scheduled

Medical Conditions) Regulation 1998.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 25 September 1998.

3 Amendment of Public Health Regulation 1991

The Public Health Regulation 1991 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

insert after clause 87:

87A Scheduled medical conditions

Insert the following in alphabetical order in Category 3
of Schedule 1 to the Act:
Chancroid
Chlamydia
Donovanosis
Giardiasis
Lymphogranuloma venereum
