His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Public Authorities (Financial Arrangements) Act 1987.

Explanatory note

The Dust Diseases Reserve Fund was established under the Workers’ Compensation (Dust Diseases) Act 1942 and was vested in and administered by the WorkCover Authority. However, the WorkCover Legislation Amendment Act 1996 amended the Act:

(a)	to close the Dust Diseases Reserve Fund, and
(b)	to provide for the transfer of that Fund’s balance, and its role as the collection fund for insurers’ contributions to the liabilities that arise under the Act, to the existing Workers’ Compensation (Dust Diseases) Fund under the Act which is administered by the Workers’ Compensation (Dust Diseases) Board.

The object of this Regulation is to confer on that Board the investment powers described in Part 2 of Schedule 4 to the Public Authorities (Financial Arrangements) Act 1987 in respect of the funds of or under the control of the Board.

This Regulation is made under the Public Authorities (Financial Arrangements) Act 1987, including sections 24 and 43 (the general regulation making power).

1    Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Public Authorities (Financial Arrangements) Amendment (Dust Diseases Board) Regulation 1997.

2 Amendment of Public Authorities (Financial Arrangements) Regulation 1995

The Public Authorities (Financial Arrangements) Regulation

1995 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.
