An Act to amend the Public and Bank Holidays Act 1972.

[Assented to 14 October 2004]

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

1.             Short title

This Act may be cited as the Public and Bank Holidays

Amendment Act 2004.

2.             Commencement

This Act comes into operation on the day on which it receives the

Royal Assent.

3.             The Act amended

The amendments in this Act are to the Public and Bank

Holidays Act 1972*.

4.             Section 6 replaced

Section 6 is repealed and the following section is inserted

instead —

6.             Saturdays to be bank holidays

Saturday shall be a bank holiday throughout the State.

”.

5.             Section 10 amended

(1)

Section 10(1) is amended by deleting “be closed” and inserting

instead —

“ close their premises to the public ”.

(2)

Section 10(2) is repealed and the following subsection is

inserted instead —

(2)

A bank in the State is not required to close its premises

to the public on a Saturday, if that Saturday —

(a)

is a bank holiday by virtue of section 6; and

(b)

is not a bank holiday or public holiday under any other section.

”.
