Public Accounts and Audit Committee Regulations 2005 1

I, PHILIP MICHAEL JEFFERY, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the
Public Accounts and Audit Committee Act 1951 .Dated 15 June 2005

These Regulations are the
Public Accounts and Audit Committee Regulations 2005 .
These Regulations commence on the day after they are registered.
The following Statutory Rules are repealed:
· 1970 No. 18
· 1972 No. 69
· 1983 No. 179.
In these Regulations:
Act means thePublic Accounts and Audit Committee Act 1951 .
Note The Act defines the expressionsChair ,Committee andDeputy Chair to mean:
· the Chair of the Public Accounts and Audit Committee;
· the Public Accounts and Audit Committee;
· the Deputy Chair of the Public Accounts and Audit Committee.
For section 20 of the Act, Schedule 1 sets out the prescribed scale.
Schedule 1 Scale of witnesses’ fees and travelling expenses (regulation 5)
| Witness appearing before the Committee to give evidence because of his or her professional, scientific or other special skill or knowledge | A fee, for each day on which the witness appears, equal to the amount specified in item 49 of Schedule 2 to the |
| Witness appearing before the Committee other than a witness described in item 1 | A fee, for each day on which the witness appears, equal to the amount specified in item 50 of Schedule 2 to the |
| Witness appearing before the Committee who is remunerated by wages, salary or fees | In addition to the fee payable under item 1 or 2, an amount equal to the amount lost by the witness because of the appearance before the Committee. |
| Witness appearing before the Committee to give skilled evidence | In addition to the fee payable under item 1 or 2, an amount that the Chair or Deputy Chair considers reasonable for qualifying to give that evidence. |
| Witness appearing before the Committee | In addition to the fee payable under item 1 or 2:
