Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy)

Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Act 1981.

Commencement

1. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1 October 1984.

2. Regulation 2 of the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

Interpretation

“2. In these Regulations, “the Act” means the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Act 1981.”.

3. Regulation 3 of the Protection of the Sea (Shipping Levy) Regulations is repealed and the following regulation substituted:

Rate of Levy

“3. (1) For the purposes of section 6 of the Act, the rate of 1.7 cents per ton of the tonnage of a ship is prescribed.

“(2) The rate prescribed by sub-regulation (1) is applicable to the quarter commencing on 1 October 1984 and all subsequent quarters.”.
