His Excellency the Governor. with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Prohibited Weapons Act 1989.

Explanatory note

Under the Prohibited Weapons Act 1989, a person must not possess or use a prohibited weapon unless authorised to do so by a permit. The object of this Regulation is to add imitations or replicas of firearms to the list of prohibited weapons in the Act.

This Regulation is made under the Prohibited Weapons Act 1989, including section 3 ( 4 ) .

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Prohibited Weapons Amendment

(Imitations and Replicas of Firearms) Regulation 1998.

2 Amendment of Schedule 1 to Prohibited Weapons Act 1989

The Prohibited Weapons Act 1989 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Schedule 1 Prohibited weapons

Insert after item (27):

(27A) Any imitation or replica of a firearm (including any imitation or replica pistol. blank fire pistol, shortened firearm, machine gun or sub-machinegun) unless i t is of a type approved by the Commissioner of Police.
