Proclamation under the Police Regulation Act 1898

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, by this my proclamation made under section 6 of the Police Regulation Act 1898  –

(a) declare and name the following parts of the Tasmanian Police Force as districts: (i) Operations Support; (ii) Executive Support; (iii) Human Resources; (iv) Internal Investigations; and (b) declare and name the following parts of Tasmania as districts: (i) Southern District  – the municipal areas of Glenorchy, Hobart, Huon Valley and Kingborough; (ii) Eastern District  – the municipal areas of Brighton, Central Highlands, Clarence, Derwent Valley, Glamorgan-Spring Bay, Sorell, Southern Midlands and Tasman; (iii) Northern District  – the municipal areas of Break O’Day, Dorset, Flinders, George Town, Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands and West Tamar; (iv) Western District  – the municipal areas of Burnie, Central Coast, Circular Head, Devonport, Kentish, King Island, Latrobe, Waratah-Wynyard and West Coast; and (c) declare the headquarters station for each district to be as follows: (i) Operations Support  – Hobart Police Station; (ii) Executive Support  – Hobart Police Station; (iii) Human Resources  – Hobart Police Station; (iv) Internal Investigations  – Hobart Police Station; (v) Southern District  – Hobart Police Station; (vi) Eastern District  – Bellerive Police Station; (vii) Northern District  – Launceston Police Station; (viii) Western District  – Burnie Police Station; and (d) revoke the proclamation notified in the Gazette as Statutory Rules 1995, No. 118; and (e) This proclamation takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.
