Proclamation under the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970

I, the Lieutenant-Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, on the recommendation of the Minister and with the approval of both Houses of Parliament, by this my proclamation made under section 14(1) of the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1970  –

(a) declare the land specified in Schedule 1 to this proclamation to be reserved land in the class of nature reserve; and (b) give the name Macquarie Island Nature Reserve to that reserved land; and (c) declare that this proclamation takes effect on the day on which its making is notified in the Gazette.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the proclamation) This proclamation extends the Macquarie Island Nature Reserve by about 74 715 hectares to include the State waters surrounding the existing reserve.
