under the

Fisheries Management Amendment Act 2006 No 18

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Fisheries Management Amendment Act 2006, do, by this my Proclamation appoint:

(a)

5 February 2007 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence (except as provided by paragraph (b)), and

(b)

30 June 2008 as the day on which Schedule 1 [20] and [37] to that Act commences.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence:

(a)

the uncommenced provisions of the Fisheries Management Amendment Act 2006 (the amending Act) (except as provided by paragraph (b)) with effect on 5 February 2007 (the provisions relate to, among other things, the nomination of fishers, endorsements on licences, management charges, annual contributions and record making), and

(b)

a provision of the amending Act that repeals the requirement that fishers pay an annual contribution to the cost of research and other industry costs with effect on 30 June 2008.
