under the

Judicial Officers Amendment Act 2006 No 34

MARIE BASHIR, Governor I, Professor Marie Bashir AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Judicial Officers Amendment Act 2006, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 2006 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a) section 4,
(b) Schedule 1 [2]–[4] and [7]–[22],
(c) Schedule 2.

Explanatory note

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Judicial

Officers Amendment Act 2006. Those provisions include:

(a)

amendments to the Judicial Officers Act 1986 to deal with the handling of complaints against judicial officers and the investigation of judicial officers who have suspected impairments, and

(b)

amendments to the Judges’ Pensions Act 1953 to exclude leave without pay from calculations of a judge’s pension entitlements.
